A full 3" system from the base of the downpipe, including sport cat, will cost you under £700 fitted at ProSpeed in Cardiff.

I'm sure a custom manufacturer local to you could do something similar.

I'm not saying that your cat is the problem though.

          exhaust gases

have left the sheet in the car with the values on it,, which is now parked up at work ,,
cant quite mind the first of the figures , am sure the second test/fast idle , reading was 0.50, and could be wrong but am sure it should be 0.05?? , will post when at work tomorrow, the results .. cheers

When was the lambda probe last changed ? I'd be hoping that fixes things before assuming the CATs are dead.

Also - is the car running at the right temperature ?

If its not warming up properly (or the coolant temp sensor for the ECU) is faulty then you could be getting extra fuel. Truly don't know if that would be enough to trip the CO limits at idle or the nominal 2500rpm fast idle.

If you had a dead lambda sensor you tend to get higher levels of CO. But not always. 0.50% CO, is not all that high really, it sounds like the cats are not cleaning up the excess gas.

If a lambda control car has no cat then that about the correct reading.

List the readings on here and we/I will try to diagnose the fault for you. Also do you have a digital multimeter?? If so then, unplug the single wire from the lambda sensor and measure the voltage on the wire from the sensor. Check to see if the voltage is moving around. The voltage will be moving between 0-1volt. If it is stuck then try inducing an air leak, by pulling the pipe of the front of the inlet manifold. This should make the voltage change. If not then try squirting some butane gas from a lighter or something. If the voltage doesnt move at all then the sensor is dead.

If however the sensor is responding to these changes in the mixture then it sounds very much like the cats have failed.

                gases

thanks for the help, i have ordered the lamba probe , ,, i will post the results of the test tonight at some point ,,,
as for the running teperature i am convinced of the reading on the temperature gauge, as when on idle for a period of time it is as it should be reading , , but when taken out for a drive , the gauge goes to the bottom and reads 50 until stopped and slowly increases as normal ,, so could be a temp sensor problem also ,,
al post the results of co test t/nite ..

                cheers dave

,,a better break down of the test,, fitted a new lamba today, but have to wait till monday to test on the machine and see if we can get a better reading / pass..

                        fast idle test limits..
                        min... max...
                        co level,, 1.32 % fail.......... - ....... 0.30
                        lamba .................pass..

                        second fast idle test.
                        min.. max..
                        co level,, 1.42 % fail........... - ......... 0.30..
                        lamba.,, 0.96 .. fail........ 0.97 ..... 1.03..

                        natural idle test ,,
                        min.. max..
                        co level,, 2.24 % fail...... - .........0.50..

,, any clues of other or the main cause of the problem could be,,
kinda hope its the lamba , and not those cat`s,, cheers...
