Hi there, this is written on behalf of Desmond's Dad, so sorry about the girly descriptions! There's a red exclamation mark that's appeared on the computer check thingy on the dashboard, you know, the bit that checks whether you've got any bulbs out and if your brakes work. Does anyone out there know what this means?
Thanks
Fran

It is the hydraulic systems low pressure warning light. This system looks after the power steering and brakes.
Does it flash the whole time or does it flash and then go out after a few moments?
It could be as simple as low hydraulic fluid level in the resevoir which just needs to be topped up, it could be a leak (look for hydraulic fluid under the car) or that the hydraulic pressure acumilator (bomb) is on the way out.
Our cars do have a tendency for the warning light to flash for a little bit when first starting the car. Mine has done this for a few years now without any problems....as yet.
Mine has also done this before. Couldn't find a fault anywhere, no hydraulic leaks anywhere, fluid level fine. Two years later the power steering rack developed an internal leak and the power steering pump started to give up the ghost. Not had a peep out of that light (touch wood etc) since the rack and pump were replaced.
That drive to the garage was very nervous.
Ck.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...
is that when you steer from left to right by any chance...
i had this problem and found a rubber brake pipe with a bulge in it (probably expanded quite a bit when stopping ) when i replaced said pipe i was shocked to see the light no longer came on and i thought is it really that good the old computer !!
