I believe that the 3 spoke will fit as i've seen it on an RS2 and i think it might be the same as the A4/A3 type but for those you need a boss adapter from the stealer, not much i dont think.

Strange one this. Seems there is no pattern as to what model got which. (airbag wise)
Mines a 95 coupe, and has a 3 spoke sport airbag wheel, so does my bro's 95 coupe.
Dougs is a 95 coupe, registered later on that year on an N plate, yet he had the 4 spoke airbag. BluS2 had a very late 96 coupe registered on a P plate and he had the 3 spoke one. Confused? I still am
The 3 spoke airbag wheel fitted to the S2's is exactly the same as those fitted to the RS2's (although some of those came with a 4 spoke wheel ) only difference is the airbag. The S2's had a chrome fourrings logo in the middle, whereas the RS2 had black rings.
IIRC to fit the later S4 3 spoke wheel, you will need to get an adapter from Audi, Doug looked at doing this but found an RS2 one instead. He may still have the S4 one, worth asking him Si.

Need to compare MY dates rather than reg dates. IIRC the 3 spoke was an optional extra with 4 standard but I may just be deluded. Anyways 1994/1995 MY used both and I guess they had just run out of the good ones when they made Dougs and put on a 4 spoke lying around !!
Not that that really matters as Doug has changed all the bits on the car at least once and still cannot keep his wires on his mafs

I've got a late 94, wheel is four spoke, with air bag, very understated, would prefer three spoke S2, air bag.

yes he has - because I've got it here!
                      cheers Sal!

If you buy one which needs an adapter to change the spline size, be prepared for the indicator's self cancelling function to no longer do its job.

I'm in the process of putting the S2 airbag wheel on my non-bagged S2 - have a few issues to deal with despite the shaft being the same size...... no horn slip ring, no indicator cancelling lug, no airbag!

                      it'll be fine!...........

RS2 wheel on the S2 hub does not self cancel.

I still have an A4 Sport wheel+airbag somewhere!

Alistair, isn't there also so an issue that the non-airbagged S2 had the collapsable steering column but the airbagged S2 didn't? Not sure what impact that has, but it must be worth checking out as the column would behave differently on impact and may cause the airbag to operate incorrectly? Anyone able to comment on this?
                            Cheers

As long as the airbag is not connected to anything electrically, I cannot see it going off.

I think I paid 150 for my wheel - probably too much! What sort of prices have they been going for on ebay? Make me an offer!
