    Hi guys,

Ive done this before but have forgotten how i did it.

How do u remove the aux guages? do I have to remove the whole plastic thingie thats connected to my rear ashtray ?

there is a removable peice in front of the hand brake button but I dont want to snap it (my old audi had it snapped and it was a PITA)

    Hey Ski,
Unfortunately, you will have to move everything behind the shifter console. First, remove your gear selector knob, then pop off that cover by the ebrake release button. Remove that screw you see there. Then near the rear ash tray, you'll find a cover with a screw under that....remove that screw/bolt. Then pull your e-brake lever up and lift and pull that console up. You only need to move it out of the way to the back a bit, no need to remove it completely. Then pop off the cover by your A/C so you can undo the two little screws in there holding the trim above the aux cluster (i've lost my trim and screws long ago). Finally, your center console with the gauges should slide back and out...then unplug some wires and your done.
It will come back to you since you've done it before and shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes.

Or an hour if you drop the little screw for the gearstick gaiter down inside the gearstick housing

Sorry about that mates....I've pulled so many of these cars apart that I can do it in ~10 mins. The first time I did it was a little longer.
