Too late Sid, (maybe). One of my customers is casting his beady eye over them tomorrow. If he isn't scared of hard work, he'll buy them. I'll let you know anyway.

Sid, i looked at those S3 ones too, seem almost identical. But little point in me getting leather since rest of my interior is cloth.

I dont own those recaro's in pic, looking to buy.

Are you fitting the S3 seats in your S2 or in an S3 type thing....?

I'm looking to fit them to my S2. I already have black leather so they should match nicely.

I had a test drive in an S3 in April/May last year. It had Recaros and I fell in love with them.

If I can get the ones on eBay then I'll be well chuffed.

Heads up for you on the seats...

They would be about £600-£700 brand new from Recaro each seat, BUT..... the recaro seat base sub frame retails at £521 EACH :eek2:

This *could* be one expensive muvver hubbard to get subframes to make them fit an S.

So I could be looking at £2000 just to fit the seats properly.:eek2:

Anyone want to buy 2 front seats from an S2 Avant? Black Leather - Good condition. Not heated or anything special. A snip at £2000!

Those look like Standard Recaro Style seats. They use them on RS4, RS6, S8, S4, S3, etc...

If they are aftermarket ones that I suppose they are because I don't remember any Golf with theese seats, you need to buy the Recaro Adaptors that are no 521 pounds as Martyn said.
They are about 82 pounds each reference number 85.77.27 right side and 85.77.17 left side.

Recaro Uk has some on stock because I just got myself some Recaro Sport Seats and needed the baseframes. However Recaro UK does not deliver to Spain so I found them through Germany.

Talk to Margaret Pryal from www.Recaro-direct.co.uk customer service and tell her you want the same baseframes as Rafael from Spain.

Bad news is that with the Audi 80 baseframes you will loose the height ajustments and maybe the electrical movement forward also (not sure about this but I hope it will work).
Electrical Tilt will work for sure.

                Cheers,

anyone got any idea what recaros will fit straight into an S2 3B ?

hate the leather seats ive got , cant afford the cash needed for RS2 seats ( assuming they are available ) & dont want to mess with welding etc .

                  any ideas gratefully received.

                  cheers

Don't know if you have the S2 or an Avant, SRF,

as far as I know the RS2 seats don't tilt forward as it is a 5 door.

That means your rear seat passengers would have problems getting in.

I was wondering about the sport Recaros from an Astra GTE. Subframes from Recaro.

Another option is to use the black Leather ones from an Escort Cosworth. to match a black leather interior.

                    I need to sort something as I'm 6 foot 6 ( 2 metres) tall.

Got a Coupe................I may look into the cosworth recraos, but any idea if they will fit ? can I remove the mounting frame from my unconfortable leather coupe seats & use them with another recaro seat ?

                      cheers

I have had a look at the seat frames etc and have been trying to work out what to do. I have a picture of the Recaro subframe and it looks to be worth the money.

                        Caution!!!!

The 'Ford' Recaros may not be the same as normal aftermarket seat frames.

                        Other suggestions:

RS Turbo seats ( I have a pair for my turbo charged Morris Minor Pickup) which will be mounted on Metro Seat Brackets. Small neat and cheap.( unlike myself!)

Escort RS2000 ( FWD ) and 4x4. I have the Recaro seats in my 4x4 mondeo and they are very comfortable.

                        280 capri
                        Astra GTE
                        RS Turbo
Audi A8 sports seats ( only for Avant)
VW Passatt? same floorpan as A4 may fit S2? ( Avant only again)
                        Honda Accord
Honda Civic Type R They would be good....

Any other ideas for donor vehicles?

                          RS2 seats

By some weird reason the RS2 seats are "tiltable". They were even option to the coupe from -94(?) on on.

My 90 Coupe has a height/tilt system on it. When it is at it's lowest my head still touches the roof. Car has sunroof and I'm 2 metres tall.

I know that the Recaro Site sells both seats & mounting kits, so it is possible to purchase a seat from elsewhere & get away with only a new mounting kit...unfort. they only list 2x seats that are suitable - the Style & the N Joy- I cant see these 2 for sale anywhere else at a decent price

Neither of these 2 impress me however. My old 3.2 911 had sexy seats that did foprld fwd top get access to the back, but think that Carerra seats may not have any height adjustment ....I can really remember.

Do all Audis have the same mounting footprint ? - Its doesnt seem so from the answers.

I dont want to butcher either seats or chassis & am really looking for a straight fit. I think the RS2 s are either pretty much unobtainbale or seriously expensive.

I cant do more than about 200 miles in the S2, as it kills me....I need better seats!

I suppose I could go to a decent tuning/ rally outfit & get them to make a one off mounting for whatever seat I manage to locate.........mnaybe time to find some leather 911 seats?

                                Hi SRF,

I don't find the seats uncomfortable. The main problem is lack of side support.
Why did Audi use performance 4 wheel drive and seats that are as flat as an ironing board? The Coupe seats seem to be deeper than the saloons.

My friend's VW Passat TDI 130 seats are very comfortable, they look just like the Audi seats.

All the Audi seat brackets I have seen are the same.

The Porsche seats look funny though!

The modern Recaro seats look too modern for the Audi interior.
