    Trim problem

Ive had to take off my centre consul a couple of time recently - once for minstrument bulbs, another time to replace the gearstick gaiter. It all goes back & ive bought a whole new load of VAG 8mm headed bolts to replace the old ones as I use them ( from VAGparts obviously! ). its all nice & tight apart from one bit............

The forward consol that holds the3x instruments s & gaiter also covers the transmission tunnel under the dash - it clips into 2x clips at the back of the footwell/ tunnel to stop the trim from "flaring" out. Where this consul butts up against the bottom of the dash, there seems to be a gap that wont close up & I can see 2x clips on the underside of the dash ( I think ) that appear in the 4 mm gap on either side. These obviously hold the bottom consol in place but I cant seem to find any way of getting these to attach to anything... this is doing my head in ....

anyone got any idea how to get rid of this gap?

Will try to get some pix if possible.

    cheers in advance

I have exactly the same problem, i think the part or the console which locates in the clips have broken off on mine, the only other way around it may be to wedge something under the console to close the gap a little.

yup - as martin said - there are some flanges on the lower piece.....

when I first removed it on my old coupe I didn't realise I'd broken them off till the gap appeared.
Haven't made the same mistake with the S2.....yet!
      Poor design IMHO

******......anyone got a spare black one with the lugs intact they want to sell me ?

the decent breakers dont want to split an interior trim set.....

I can PX my old one with no lugs & a few screw holes where some t0sser attached a car phone.

A standard Audi 80/90 one is the same moulding. You may have to do a little work on it such as swapping the carpet bits etc. But it is the same. I have my spare ready in the loft. I'm about to fit a carphone kit to my old one in the existing holes.
