Had a water leak in my S4 that turned out to be an almost invisible 1.5cm long split in the door seal along the seam where it joins the 'flock' type fabric, just at dashboard level. Could only see it by pulling on the seal, and it was causing a puddle on the passenger side floor.

A squirt of rubber glue seems to have cured it

Changed my pollen filter and I have a leak in my footwell too. Just refitted the bit of plastic trim from the base of the windscreen but all the sealant is falling apart.
Any ideas where I can get it from?

Can't the Air-con produce water in the passenger footwell (centre of car side) if the breather's are blocked or the car has done a lot of intermittent and humid work with the air-con on?

Have you checked the drain hoses? They could be clogged.

I have a similar problem water in the footwells but it is coming in through the bottom of passenger door. I had water in the drivers side footwell and i mean water (one morning it was 2 inches), any way it was coming in the gromet where the bonnet release cable goes through from interior to exterior (beside the fuse box). A gromet from Maplin (20 for a couple of quid), some modding and silicon and job done.

I used the hoover in my local filling station to get the water out.......it never worked the same after that?? OOOOOPPPPSSSS

hi check the drain from the sunnroof when you open the door remove the ruber and check if the plastic house is connected. also check the torpedo wall it can leak there to.

oh sorry guys!! .. i fixed this problem a long time ago ... it was leaves and grime that blocked up the entrance to the fan blowers ... (near wipers)

this kept water there and made it damp ... which lead to seaping and when it rained hard it got through .... no more leaks now

yes.. look if there is any thing stoping the output flow lock for cracks in the torpedo wall. you can park it down hill and throw some water on the windscreen
and then se where it goes

                              water water everywhere....

Thanks all for the hints listed... I came here today after a weekend of removing carpets to try to get my S2 dried out....

I've had puddles in both front footwells and both rear ones... and there are a few drops in the boot under the spare wheel !!! I was wondering if I've bought a fishtank instead of a car....

I've found a major culprit was a TREE in my drive which has been dropping LOADS of leaves and (much worse) marble sized squishy berries ... which have been clogging up all the drainage places under the wipers. Sooo...

1- Removed the leaf debris under the wiper area ... probably that alone has been causing a build up of damp etc.

2- bonnet release grommet - my car doesn't appear to have a grommet.... so I can be pretty sure that's a likely cause of the major wetness, and easy to fix!

3- door seals... mmm.. the vertical rubber seals close to the dashbroad DO look like they've had the odd drip coming in... have to watch them...

4- boot seals... some of the drainage places here gummed by tree-muck ..so I'm hoping a good powerhose at the weekend will have sorted this.

I'm rather sad that the last time this happened to me was TWENTY years ago with a rustbucket Opel Manta (and that was caused by rusted out underbonnet space)

Anyway... thanks for all the tips and good luck to you all...

...BTW did I tell you how I burnt up a VERY souped up dayglo yellow Fiat Uno the other day driven by a rather surprised baseball cap wearing yoof...??? Don't think he could believe I would go round the outside of him on a 90 degree lefthander at 50mph, and without a squeal of tyres... hee hee
                              SOLD !

gromet from Maplin (20 for a couple of quid), some modding and silicon will fix the hole where your bonnet release cable is.
