    Leaking grab handle!?

Got in my car this morning, after about 5 mins driving I noticed by bum was wet (no jokes please).

Turns out water is leaking in from the grab handle above the drivers door! WTF No water anywhere esle just on the head lining below the handle (and the bit that dripped onto the seat). Any ideas where this might be coming in? Sunroof seems fine, if anyhting it seems to be directly in line with where the roof rail attaches above the door.

Any suggestions much appreciated. This is my worst mightmare - a leaky Avant. I though only Coupes leaked :wacked:

    Hi Leigh,

have you taken the door trim panel off recently?? there is a small foam like seal that hooks into the back of the door release trigger housing. I lost that on mine and a fair bit of wind noise comes in from there now. Either that has dropped out or maybe the plastic water deflector is ripped or off on the back of the door trim panel.

      Thnaks for the reply.

I've maybe not explained this or you didn't read it properly :nana:

The water is around the grab handle above the door. Up in the headlining.
I've removed the handle and cant see any signs of water coming in behind it. Could water be coming in at the top of the door and soaking up into the headlining and then dripping off the grab handle?

        leak?

LP, it is almost certain to be your sunroof! Check the 4 drain pipes are not blocked with mud at the lower ends by pouring (carefully) water into the sunroof gutter & watching where it exits (hopefully) under the car. sometimes the pipe can become detached from the sunroof "cassette" this can only be checked by loosening off ssome of the headlining> not advisable unless you need too! This can be caused by folks trying to blow out dirt with high pressure air from the top end! DONT clean the pipe this way!
Hope this might be of some help!,

I'll check this but the water has now completely disappeared! No evidence even in the recent rain. The car did have sunroof problems for the last owwner as he has evidence of it being fixed. It's been fine over the 16 months I've had it - until now

            Well the water is back.

Checked the sunroof and all the drains are working perfectly. Seems to be leaking directly under the fixing for the roofrail. Is there the possibility for water to make it in from the roof rail - if not any other suggestions

            Cheers

              bee-sting aerial seal leaking?

On previous cars i've had before it looks like its down properly but obviously water seeps under it and runs along the headlining etc until it finds a way out...

              just another possibility

Thanks Ant I'll check that but I'm thinking it is unlikely.
