    Leather+seat heaters

Is S2 always equipped with seat heaters if it has leather interior?

I now have the complete heater harness and relays and switches from a friends spare part car and I'm planning to buy a leather set in the future...

    No.

I have leather seats, but they're not heated. I was an option.

Leather seats were one option, heated seats another.

I have leather but no heat.....no fun in the morning.

          Porkkis,

I have the heat pads in my seats. I just bought the rotary switches to regulate the temp.

Can you give me the P/N for the relays? Do you have schematics you can send me?

Next thing we need to know is:

Price of heater pads and wiring?
                How difficult to fit?

Someone (Graham??) from S2 Central changed out the heat pads in his seats. I have no idea how he did it. I would think you would have to pull the covers off the seats.

You might want to check the S2_Central archives. You might find the PN's there.

                      SRF,

                      Look at this link http://20v.org/seatheat.htm

I don't think that you will find a better description on the net.

I paid a garage to do this.

Seat Heater Pads were expensive - over £100 a pop and you need one for the base, one for the back. Seat out, cover off, replace the elements, plug in, put everything back.

Cost incl labour and vat was nuts - haven't got invoice to hand but over 300 quid, which initially sucked up all my 'samco budget'

Yes, the seats warm up in around 30 seconds (on '6') and it's very nice in winter, especially as the seats are so damn cold to start, but unless you really really have money to burn, or nothing else to spend it on, I'd say you could live without 'em. I know I could.

Check with Martyn/Paul @Vagparts for the best prices on bits.

                        No more.

Leon TDI 150 run in now.

                        Very slow.

                        Needs a chip.

I would suspect an open circuit = one of the wires somewhere in the heater pad broke.

I probably could try to find out the wiring schematics by reverse engineering the harness. It's not very big. 2 connectiors for the switches, 2 for the relays, 2 for the seats, one fuse, one ground wire and one for the switch lighting.
I try to take some photos of the harness some day that I could post here.

New heater elements cost around 500e for both seats. Way too much IMHO.
The harness and switches and relays cost also bloody much. I suggest you try to get used items. They're same in t89 sedans and b4's so should be available.

They warm up equally fast when you put the switch to position '1' as the system is equipped with thermostat.
