Which Steering Wheel?

My '95 S2 had a lovely steering wheel with airbag, but a lot of the cars i've seen pictures of have the non-airbag steeringwheel...
Why is this?

I assumed that only newer models had the airbag, but I found a '95 avant on autotrader with no airbag... Does this mean it could have been in an accident, or am I just completely wrong about which cars have airbags and which don't?

some people remove their airbags, either for looks or to save cash.

I always thought it was late 95 they fitted the airbags, I much prefer the sport 3 spoke myself.

Think i know which one id rather have, just in case i will stick with my airbagged 4 spoker. Must admit not quite as asthetically pleasing as the 3 spoke non bagger but in the event of a accident id rather my face looked alright ! (94 S2 avant)

eh... my airbag wheel definitely only had 3 spokes...
I reckon it looks nicer than the non-airbag one too. Just my opinion.

That must be the later RS2 style wheel then, very nice. I was thinkin about the flat A4 style ones.

FWIW my early 94 Avant has the air bag in the not-so-nice 4 spoker.
Did they not introduce this at the start of '94?

My car is Y95, and had this wheel stock, that was mounted also on other audi cars from that year (A4, A6, A8).



Now i have this steering wheel, from an A4 Y97. I think it is the same as the RS2 one, just the RS2 has (cool) black rings.



If you had the same steering wheel is I had in my car stock, than this newer wheel fits straight on with no mods. Just take care of the dates. The next 3 spoke wheels that came out do not directly fit on.
