this is a classic: I was working under the dash (adding relays for the lights), after job done I notice there is a part left

Lucky it is an Audi, so it has a part number on it: 8A0 971 825. searching some online catalogs it shows up as "protection plate" somewhere near the relais. But where and how to fit it?

Goes between realising and pedal, the slot you can see goes over a rectangular peg and sort of locks in place.
