RS2 Spare Tire Hold Down Screw - Part# Needed

Looking for the OEM Audi/VW Part# for the spare tire hold down screw that goes with the factory Porsche Cup Wheels-

I picked up 4A0 803 899 which looks correct from the top but the threaded part does not reach nor does the insert fit into the Porsche wheel. Not sure if the lower part has a separate part number?

    Thanks in advance

The spigot diameter in the centre of the wheel is a Porsche size as opposed to an Audi size and the offset is also completely different to stock S2 Avant wheels so I have to assume this part is unique to RS2's. I can have a look at mine and give you that part number from that, though finding one may be tricky.

Appreciate that. Like most things RS2, finding parts prove to be challenging

I've just had a look at mine and it has the same part number that you mention in your first post on the upper part. However it splits into two pieces, the lower of which I assume is unique to the RS2, or perhaps a Porsche uses the same part... This is the correct diameter but doesn't have any part number or any distinguishing markings on it.

          Thanks for the pictures.

Can you provide the dimensions for the detachable piece? May need to have someone 3D print the upper piece.
Width at the narrow part - ?mm
Height of each of the steps - ?mm

Also the threaded rod length from the underside with the piece detached.

I think I have the correct threaded rod length piece.

          Thanks for your time

No problem, happy to try and help.

The threaded rod is 65mm from the underside of the top section.

Width (diameter) of the narrow part is 55mm including the splines on the outside, which is a loose fit into a Porsche spigot as they're approx 71mm, however it does screw down and hold the wheel securely.

Lower step is 15mm, upper step is 10mm.

What I've done with my car is use the polystyrene moulded jack/tools holder from a B6 A4 as this fills the spare wheel completely so it stops everything rattling around as well as helps support the cover, to finish it of nicely I still have to extend the A4 threaded rod but that's not hard to do. Will take some pic's tomorrow for you as I'm at home all morning.

It looks like my thread rod is indeed 65mm just like yours. The issue is what we thought, my step down piece is too thick.
The top half is 20mm and the bottom (towards the wheel) is 15mm which means that piece is 10mm too long and therefore the threads won't make initial contact.

I think I might try to trim off around 7mm of the smaller circle to see if I can get a few threads started. Since the rest of the dimensions are the same, it should work if I can get purchase.

If you can, take some pictures of how the factory jack box and stuff is positioned in there. Since I have no idea what is supposed to look like. Not sure where where or how everything is secured back there.

              Thanks

Yeah, that should work just fine, or you could weld a bit onto the bolt like I'm going to do with the A4 set up.

My jack was just loose and the 'tools' were in a bag both of which was just kind of thrown in the middle of the spare wheel which I didn't find at all satisfactory, I doubt that's how they left the factory, I can have a look in my owners manual but seem to recall they just get mentioned in passing in there.

When I say tools all I got was the afore mentioned jack, a locking wheel bolt key and a box spanner/wrench to fit it and the lug nuts, hence me pinching the arrangement from scrap a A4.

S2 Avants have a plastic moulded cover which fits over the battery and holds everything but there was no sign of one of those ever being fitted to my car, it could have been there but who knows.

Here's some pictures of the A4 tool holder in place in my RS2's spare wheel well, I recon this is much better than the stock arrangement. Going to dig out my manual out now and see what it says in there, if there's any useful information I'll post the details.

Please excuse the missing trim I'm halfway through sorting out various aftermarket stereo sabotage, bloody cables and wires everywhere that must be done away with!

Oh yeah, the A4 centre hold down screw has the same part number on the top section as the original Audi 80 part so this is must be relatively universal.

Here we go, all the relevant information that's in the manual from the official book pack, to be fair there's a lot more info in there than I expected.

These days owners manuals are about as much use as a Mr Man book, with instructions not to to drink the coolant or contents of the battery and little info of actual use.

BTW, never use any sort of impact gun on the lug nuts, they're made of a soft alloy and really don't like it.

I'm going to modify the A4 set up to allow for extra tools on top of the crappy 10/13mm spanner and double ended screw driver, though those these are actually pretty good. I also like to carry a selection of sockets, some better spanners as well as spare hose clamps and a variety of fixings.

I still have my original warning Triangle which is nice, the first aid kit is long gone and would be sod all use after 25 years anyway, I'll make up my own as it's good to have one.

We didn't get the type of locking wheel nut with a key in the UK, so that info is kinda useless.

Maybe be able to find the moulded plastic bit that sits on top of the battery if your stuck, though I expect all Audi 80 Avants use the same part so you could probably find one in scrap yard stateside.
