  • Window & tailgate creaks

    My tailgate creaks as does the driver's window when closed. Anybody managed to stop theirs creaking ?
    Now RS2'less

    I'd also be interested, the creaking sometimes drives me mad too !

      No creaks on my Avant....

      The driver's window does however have 'rattle' when only partially open, very annoying.

      O other cars try a 'petroleum based jelly' on the seals. Helps tihng s get along much better........

        Petroleum jelly can cause damage to rubber seals, think about the warnings you see on packets of three about vaseline

        Use silicone spray ( not WD40) I bought a large can of silicone spray made by 3 in 1 for £2.99 + VAT yesterday when I was at a motorfactors. This can be sprayed liberally on the seals ( after they have been cleaned). This will help the windows move up and down more easily which isn't a bad thing.

        the tailgate may need adjusting ( coupe's suffer from it as well) and the rubber may need refitting see a site for coupes which gives good advice:
