but prosty has changed the accelerator pedal on both mine and his car:
relax the throttle wire by putting something between the throttle body and the arm to which the wire is finally attached to...
remove the panel under the dash on the driver side...
loosen the wire from the accelerator pedal itself while under the dash...
hold the pedal rack steady while bending (breaking) the old pedal loose...
mount in reverse order...
(when i say 'pedal' i mean the 'entire thing' = the pedal/the arm that holds it into the rack - which is what you buy from VAG as you cant buy 'just' the 'rubber'-part of the pedal)
They are a b*stard to remove the pedal itself,
They have retaing clips on the back edge - you need to try to squash these together wheilst pulling the platic pivot mount out of the alloy holder.
Complete pain.
Pete.

Why didn’t they just make it correctly to begin with? I still haven’t replace mine since it broke. Seems like Audi engines will never break, but things like pedals and cretin lights are almost chained at ever 90K mark. At least we know that all the owners out there are pressing hard on the right pedal.
I was thinking of fixing it back on the same way as I did the S2 but for the price of a new one I would get the whole pedal and pad as my pad is a bit worn.

Just wondered how difficult it was to change it.
Well.. it is a PITA if you go through the bother of removing the old one in one piece... if you instead hold the pedal rack steady and break the old one of it takes like 5secs... (prosty 1sec).. its not like youre gonna keep it as a momentum anyways <;
to be honest when I changed mine on the 7a the biggest PIA was getting the accelerator cable out of the slot thing at the end of the pedal. Its so far up the footwell. It wasnt too bad as far as I recall getting the pedal itself off. Plenty of slack in the cable as described and I seem to remember thinking it would have been easier to detach the pedal first and then the cable I think!
As ive said many times before - If I can do it anyone can
hope you get it sorted Michael
cheers
Paul
