drivers door is shut, door handles feel like they are not connected to anything. i can get in the car as all other doors ok so something has gone wrong with door mechanism. how on earth do i get to the mech with the door closed? if i cut through the door card will i be able to get to it?
ah dude that sounds like a mare! I had a catch fail on my drivers door last year but that wouldn't shut. I am sorry but not sure what to suggest other than gettin medieval on it and doing as little damage as possible
If you take off the grab handle on the door card you might be able to get something in the door to have a look but it sounds like the trigger has bust on the catch or is it just not unlocking?
Good luck dude, lots of jiggling and swearing here i fear

tried to look in through the inner lock but no luck, that mech feels better than the outer handle. i think it is in the door mech itself. i am going to have to get physical with the door card. only prob there is the trim is rs2 leather and i am concerned about how to get one door card replaced?!!
Hmmmm i would suggest if you need to butcher the door card don't damage the insert bit, you know the bit specific to the rs2. It might then be possible to get a normal cooking model door card and attach the carbon and leather insert to it

My mate had a simular thing happen on his 80 tdi last year... a combination of wd40 and someone pushing `in`towards the door and the gentle pulling and lifting the outer handle whilst i pulled the door trigger and then it just popped open...have a good wiggle and good luck
S2 + RS2 yep ive had a few love em... Laser red S2 avant... Brilliant black lhd RS2... Polar silver RS2... RS blau RS2... CheeRS Al
did the wd40 and jiggle bit but no luck. then i got adventurous!
i removed the rear door which gave just enough access to the locking pin on the drivers door lock. i then used a good hack saw blade and cut the pin off.
I have a spare pin and lock mech from my mates crashed avant so all back together and working great.
I had talked this through with others who suggested cutting in through the drivers door with angle grinder and then replacing the door once i was in, but i thought there must be another way!!
thanks for all suggestions as always you guys are a great resource!
Did think the door pin would be the cheapest thing to butcher earlier but wasn't sure if it was accessable, coupe would be a bummer though. Guess you could get to the back of the door pin if you could get the rear trim off.
Well done that man!
