    Door cards?

    Hi all,

Can anyone confirm for me that it is NOT possible to use left hand drive door cards on a right hand drive car?

From what I understand they cannot be used because the dash is a different shape on the driver and passenger sides, so if you put left hand drive door cards in a car with a right hand drive dash the doors will not close properly? Is this correct?

I need to find a replacement for my drivers door card RHD avant, but so far over the last 12 months I've not found a suitable replacement I've got a grey leather interior with a dark blue dash, console and door cards etc. I've seen black ones for sale and light grey ones but cannot seem to find any to match mine

I'd even consider a whole interior if it was good condition!! (but if I'm reduced to that I'd probably hold out and spend the extra money on an RS2 item and get someone else to fit it) The only thing is I'm happy to swap seats, door cards and things like that. But I'm not confident enough to have to change the dash as well.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated as I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do.

    Cheers Rich

I think the problem is electric window switch pamel is you use LHD cards on RHD car. Not sure about that.

The window switches are on a part of the arm rest that separates from the rest of the door card. These parts are not damaged on mine so they should just be able to be swapped over ( or they are easy to souce in a matching colour from any late model audi 80).
It's the part of the armrest that is molded into the door card that is damaged on mine hence why I need to replace it.
If LHD cards from either a non airbag / passenger airbag model do fit the RHD dash that would make my year!!
Because I know where I can get some LHD ones in matching trim to mine I just didn't want to waste the money buying them and getting them shipped from mainland europe to find they don't fit?

            lhd door cards

i have LHD door cards from RS2 in my 96 avant. my car is drivers airbag only, the door cards came from lhd drivers air bag only and all works and fits, ie doors close no problem and window switch gear all works. the only issue is that the offside door card does not line up 100% true with the dash. it is approx 20mm set back from the dash but to be honest it does not stand out and doesn't bother me. If you can that would be great I'm sure 20mm or so is virtually un-noticable.
I haven't asked on here for a while now, but the restoration is now in full flow so I thought I'd try my luck again!!
