    RS2 front seats

Does any one have RS2 front seats with the heated elements which they are willing to swap for RS2 front seats without the heated elements? Reason is that i have all the heated seat switches - wiring all in the car as mine came with heated leather.

However, i changed the leather for RS2 leather which did not have the actual heater elements in and i really want to use the function as it seems a waste not to

My RS2 seats are black and in very good condition- i can send pics to anyone who may have bought RS2 seats with teh heater elements but do not have the loom etc to run them.

    thanks.

pretty easy to fit the elements to the seats.

Done it to 4-5 different cars by now.

First thin is to remove the seats from the car.

Then you have to take the top part and the lower part of the seat apart from eachother. Theres a few nuts and bolts on each side of the seat.

Then you just have to remove the apolstry from the foam bases.

The seat bottom is the easiest to work with, so suggest you start with that one.

The leather cover is held to the foam base with a system of metal hooks and bars. One metal bar is molded into the foam pillow, the other metal bar is sewed into the leather seat cover. The hooks bind the two bars together, and if you remove the hooks the foam base and the leather cover comes apart.

I use a flat screwdriver to open up the hooks (theres quite alot of them).

Once all hooks are out you can remove the leather from the foam base, put in the heater element.

Once ready to refit the leather i use cable zip ties instead of the original metal hooks, as the zip ties are alot easier to tighten up, so the leather gets pulled down in the foam.

Take it slowly, carefully not to rip the metal bar out of the foam base, and when ready for refitting I normally put in all zip ties (use over length ones) in at once, very loose, and then tighten them up gradually, noticing how the leather gets pulled in from the top, so i get a nice original look afterwards.

I normally spend around 1-2 hours per seat for this operation.

Done it on my Audi CoupeGT, my S2, two cars of my father (MB's), and 2-3 cars of my friend.

You would never notice that the seats had been opened up.

Same procedure goes if you want to change the bottom foam base, when is all flat from people sitting on the wings.

          Good luck and have fun
