There are two phillips screws just below the seat on the carpet. Undo these and remove the bench. Easy peasy.

That's right, I was just mentioning the differences of the rear bench seats between the two.

I'm about to change over the battery (can confirm it's the original been there since 1995), everything nut/bolt still with it's green paint spot, never really noticed before, but old batteries don't have handles to lift them out and the clearance either side looks about 2mm, and even my petite hands struggle to get in , I removed the top bolt and clamp at the rear, does the lower clamp with earth cable attached need to come out to let the battery free, cause I can't see otherwise how its gonna come oot ?

                    Anybody had similar problems

                    cheers

I did mine a few years back Eric... Sure enough was a squeeze on the fingers but can't recall anything particularly nasty about swapping in a new one. There was indeed a clamp at the bottom though - pretty sure - that needs to come off !

got the bolt out, still no joy, looks like you need to lift it completely level, so it doesn't touch the sides, and the dead weight means its pretty difficult as the only things to get hold off are the terminals, spent about an hour "hands-on" trying to free it , but no luck, tried to put a cable cradle under one corner but clearances aren't enough, real PITA to be honest

tn_DSCF0660.jpg this was the bolt that held the earth lead to battery, you cant really see in the pic but it's spot welded or similar to the battery tray

tn_DSCF0661.jpg pretty tight clearance, remembering that there's alip at the bottom of the battery
