Aux Guage removal with Climate Control

I've read the s2central page on how to remove the aux guages, but how do I tackle the climate control (not 3x knobs)?

    Thanks,

Thats a bit of a different beast since it wasnt fitted to UK cars AFAIK. If you do a search there have been a few car PC's fitted and people have had to remove them then.

A/C control head, removing and installing

      1. carefully pry off trim plate with a screwdriver

      2. remove 2 screws

      Is this what you need?

The cover plate surrounding the climate display is "clipped" to the "control unit" and behind this it is secured by two screws!

So just take something to bend out the cover from either of the sides (left or Right)! Dont bend from the top or bottom, as You probably will break the pins or have marks on the dash.

I managed to change the bulb... but tell me one thing...

Is the diff-lock diagram supposed to be backlit?

It is John yes. The bulbs will have gone it there too.
Not as easy a fix though, as the bulbs are soldered in.

Beat me to it, mine had gone on all the bulbs so I just got one from ebay as they come up quite often, only thing I need to do now is change the bulb that lights up green when the diff switch is pressed.

Remove the difflock switch (I managed to remove it from the top, without removing the rear centre console) and take the circuit board off the switch by removing the screws. Unsolder the old bulbs, two are easy, but one of them sits down inside a small tube and it makes it a bit of a pain to pull it out while keeping the solder molten.
Once done make sure there's no solder covering the holes in the PCB after the old bulbs have been removed. Get three new bulbs, various options open here but by far the easiest is to use the small wedge bulbs that are used in the dash switches and cig lighter etc. Bend the legs straight. poke the legs through the holes in the PCB and then solder them on the reverse. Make sure no solder bridges any of the tracks on the PCB as they are quite close. Refit pcb to switch, plug it back and give it a try. Refit switch.

                          ok, thanks!

Soldering doesn't phase me, but how do I get the block out?
I can't get the rear end of the centre console over the handbreak, so access to the diff lock block is rather limited...

                          Any tips?

I managed to carefully get a thin blade under the edge of the switch, and started to lift it out of the console, just kept on lifting with the blade circling round the switch. Two metal spring clips on either end keep it clipped in place underneath.
Just be careful with the blade, make sure it doesn't mark the switch or the console and I'll pop up eventually.
