    Is this boost gauge ok?

I've just bought a mount for a boost gauge and now looking for one to fit in it. I want one to look as OE as possible, including lighting up red. What do you think of this one?

Seems a bit pricey too, plus I'd say a gauge that reads in BAR is preferential to PSI.

      Ebay is your friend!

You get what you pay for, I have had two of these now

They are a great bit of kit and VDO is a top brand, they just do not go high enough for future proofing.........

Ask Dale what they are like, he has one of my old ones and Crawford has the other

If you can get hold of plasma gauges, then this one with fitting kit i got from halfords for £19.99 works well.

You need something that goes to 30 psi boost or 2.0 Bar.

                    I would suggest a 52 mm Autometer Phantom 5703 (what I run):

                    http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugeli...&opid=4&szid=2

However, the Autometer gauges are edge lit (but they aren't that bad),

                    or a 52 mm or 60 mm white-faced Greddy:

                    52 mm = 16001021
                    60 mm = 16001201

The 60 mm Greddy can be made to fit in an Autometer 52mm A-pillar pod, if need be. The Greddy is truly back lit and has a peak boost recall, at least in the 60 mm size.

Thanks for all the replies. Demon Tweeks are on the expensive side anyway but I cant find that particular VDO gauge anywhere else.

Nice dash by the way Brian, my Rover has a similar one

Or more depends on the turbo you want to run.

I to have not seen those VDO gauges any where else, Have you seen the ones that tots sell?

By far the most OEM looking is the PSI > BAR converted VDO white gauge that Si (Hpmuirt) organised in a GB early last year >>> here. The guy (Gerd) who makes them, takes a PSI VDO white faced boost gauge, removes the needle and old face, replaces with a new face, replaces the needle and recalibrates it.

Tots sells them, but he must add a bit on.
You can get them direct from the maker >>> here.

I have a psi vdo white faced gauge, I'd not long bought it before the GB started, and at £55 or so, I wasn't about to fork out another £75/£80 for another. I'll live with it as it's close. Just have to live with the fact it's in PSI rather than BAR and the illumination isn't perfect.

Reading in Si's thread linked above, Angus (AAH) bought one outside of the group buy and it came to somewhere in the region of £120. A lot for a gauge yes! but it looks like it was made for the car.

Here's some pictures to compare. (I couldn't paste the pics from the thread, so have had to rehost)

First up the PSI version in my car,

And then the VDO version in Angus's car, (sorry, couldn't find a daylight one)

If I was out to buy again, and OEM was at the top of the requirements, I know which I'd now choose .
