I've got my boost gauge all in and working (will start a seperate post about the gauge etc as I think it's pretty good!), and I bought a vent mount pod like several other have had (the aluminium one with the Audi logo on it from ebay.de) - the question is, how do I fix it into the vent hole? Is there a clever way of doing it or am I going to end up glueing it?

My vent mount came from the GB run by CliveH, it doesn't require any fixing method to speak of. It's a very snug interference fit in the old vent aperture. Very snug!
Did you buy one off ebay.de from seller >>> behrs-lifestyle ?? If so I have one of those too I bought not so long ago. It's not a tight fit in the aperture at all and I'm not sure how you'll fix it in place.
IIRC "Dest" has one of these fitted, I'm sure he'll be able to give you a pointer or two.

Yep, that's the one. I guess a strip of velcro or something to pack it out could do the trick
If some one could post up the measurement of the ones that fit perfectly, the ones Jas was talking about. You could make two shims up and gap it and then you will have the correct fit
Are they really selling a version of this that does not press into the vents
Useful bit of info there for while I'm waiting for mine to arrive. Cheers
Is there a fitting guide for these on here or is it really that easy?

I have just finished fitting mine - I did indeed have 2 metal shims but I have decided not to use those, I have used some small strips of sticky foam (thin) because that way I have kept the swivel movement so I can point it towards me. Also I've used the driver's side centre vent instead of the middle one like most people use.
Fitting mine was a doddle but it is an electronic one with a sender rather than having a vac pipe directly to it. Routing the wires was pretty easy (take the vent out, poke them down through the hole in the back of the vent into the radio cavity) and connect the sender unit to the ECU vac pipe with a T-piece. Job done.
Doesn't look as OEM as some others but I'm not too fussed about that. TBH I don't think any of them look particularly OEM so I went for something completely different.

Interesting. I just made one out of some high density styrofoam (found some scrap at a construction site). Cut it to fit and used my hole saw to make a 50mm hole for the Autometer gauge. Covered it with carbon fiber-look vinyl. Looks very good.

Also, easiest way to illuminate it is with the feed to the glovebox light, that will then turn it on with the headlights
I also painted my bulb with Tamiya clear red paint, now it lights up the shade as the other dials
