I reckon that something worth considering also is having the interior re-trimmed in new leather by an interior specialist.
*Most* S2 drivers seat base squabs are looking pretty tired by now and a replacemnt seat base cover in leather is £700, YES £700 from the dealers!! that £700 buys you just 1 seat base only! cover in leather!
I've heard a few S3 guys having their cars re-trimmed in leather for about £700 in total, bear in mind you get new leather for this! I've seen some retrims in real life and it was very acceptable, even more so when you consider the price for a retrim Vs OE!!
If you could get a full leather OE interior? for less then £400 and it's in perfect condition, then fair enough go for it. Other wise, make some phone calls to a few leather trimming companies.
I've had a look through the early and late Coupes leather seats and they appear to be all the same. The seat foams are the same, the seat covers are the same, but for some reason the metal seat framework changed in 92. Cannot be sure exactly why?? I reckon... that the very early Coupes did not have the seat backrest net pockets and after 92 they did, so that could be the difference??
Consider the full retrim, make some calls and let them 'qoute you happy' :-)
A company local to me has done 3 repairs on my other cars and i am going to get the S2 driver seat repaired where they always wear. The company is called autotrimming at 4 Ennis Square, Redcar, TS10 5JR Tel: 01642470081
He used to be the upholstery manager at Rolls Royce but retired and opened up his shop with his son and his work is A1

Yeah - I agree with the above - you'd be very lucky to find a complete set for sensible money. - Nearly all are looking tired now - even the 96 models.
Back in my golf days I remember a specialist called MJ Interiors who did some seriously fantasitic re-trims - certainly the most prodfessional I saw in all of the magazines over many years.
Prices are quite reasonable too iff not too local - have a look for yourself - they'd certainly be my first choice:
For all your car upholstery requirements, from cigarette burns to full leather re-trims, we can offer you a professional, highly skilled and personal service
(£750 full leather)
(or £495 if you want to keep the quattro cloth with leather bolsters)
I was also out at the weekend and saw a fancy VW Beetle (new). On closer inspection was the demo car of a local trimmers in Canvey Island nr southend.
The car looked extremely professional so might also be worth a quote:

Since when did you drive an S2 coupe sitting in the back??? Stuff the passengers
I have to say I don't really like leather as you move about too much - it's not too bad with the leather Recaros but the alcantara ones must be very nice.
I have to admit if i had the available funds, the S2 front seats would definitely have to go for a set of recaros in similar style to the RS2's as i think the standards are uncomfortable, and the most comfortable seat i have ever had was in a Nova SR . Although the frame was made out of tin foil and kept cracking the seat was realy comfortable, I like big side bolsters and that pinned in feeling, but would have to have a black leather heated TILTING set which would go into the S2 without looking hideous or high or with loads of metal showing.
..........Not that i am picky at all

Am I the only one who has a problem with their head touching the roof? I have to drive around with my head tilted most of the time! - and I'm only just over 6'
give me a bit more height adjustability and I'd be a happy man.
Headroom is a problem in the S2.
I have to have my head tilted over in the morning on the drive to work. Not so much of a problem in the afternoon after a 'heavy' lunch.
Seats are at their lowest setting. Still pretty poor for such a large car.
Reclining the sseat doesn't help much as you then have to hang onto the steering wheel, not good at alll.
