  • Removing the dashbaord clocks.

My ATD bulb has given up the ghost and so has my time clock bulb. I'm going to have a crack at replacing these this afternoon, anything I need to be aware of?

I'm going to have a look now and see how tricky it is.

    There's a write up on S2Central.
    Not too difficult.

    Top cover off steering column,
Unscrew both screws holding cluster in,
Gently ease out past the stering wheel, unplugging the gubbins behind as you go.

Most bulbs are replacable on the back, but the temperature display one will require you to remove the temp. display module, and solder in a new sub-miniature bulb (usually from Maplin).

Yeah, I took my dash clock unit out to fix the temp gauge light. Put it all back together and I now have a rattle coming from the clocks. I wonder how it's now rattling as was fairly careful with the re-fit.

Cheers for all that, I had 3 blown bulbs on the instrument cluster, so they're all replaced now. I managed to get the ATD out and dismantled but I have no soldering iron or indeed the talent for soldering, so going to look if I can buy a new unit hopefully, depending on cost.

The new ones are £65 from Vagparts.com , the reason I know that is I botched trying to solder in a new LED....

If you can wait, and want to save the cost, you can post the module to me and i'll solder in a new bulb for you...?

Thats exactly what I'm trying to avoid, I know I'm p**s poor at soldering, as I failed on it in school, I've tried since and still not got any better

That would be much appreciated if you would please? Do you fancy earning yourself a bit more and soldering a blue SMD LED into a Rover Mk3 bubble clock for me as well? I've ballsed up 3 of these and they're thin on the ground now. If not, no problems, just thought I'd try and kill two birds with one stone thats all.

When do you want me to send it?

                  Cheers,
