    Speedo Dial

Just bought my first S2 (had a CQ20V prior to this) and loving the new experience.

However, minor niggle in that the white backing for the speedo is lifting and causes the speedo needle to stick intermittently.

It there an easy way to take the front "glass" off the instrument pod to trim the dial/fit new one ?

    Cheers

CQ20V - that car of yours - does it have RS4 replica wheels? Did you buy it in Kirkcaldy?

No - I just saw it advertised - the s2 plate gave it away - looked very nice. What do you think of it compared to the 20 Valver?

Re the speedo.. FOllow links on S2 Central to the Instrument Cluster section and you'll find related 'How To' articles on removing the cluster and taking the cover off.

Are you SURE the stickiness is due to peeling face on the dial ?

EIther way its a booger cos removing the speedo needle is a bit dicey - its tighter than it looks.

          Good luck

Chalk and cheese would be the best description. I really liked my CQ20V but this is a whole new experience...the torque is amazing. Not felt acceleration like that since my brothers old Sunbeam Lotus (on a dry day - ).

              Congrats Owen, She is beautiful.

IF, you do ever get round to trying to remove the needle, Paul (here with me) has a tool to remove needles from gauges, from what I know of 'the tool' it works pretty well. IF you do ever try it, drop Paul a line, he'll lend you it for sure.

              Martyn
PS, if you like the torque now, torque to Paul N about getting some more... I did, WOW! Torque per £, its a steal!

Thanks. I'm fairly sure as I can see the edges curled up around the odometer exactly where the needle jammed. It has cleared itself now and has been OK today but needs sorting.

                  Hi Guys!

I've had a sticking speedo needle for some months now, but lost track of where the solutions got to. I'd heard of people swapping the speedo for other units from different audi's.

Is the consensus that it is the paint lifting and obstructing the needle?
I had that on my fuel gauge which I then replaced.

                  Cheers,

Paul, I can see the links on how to remove the cluster, but I cannot see how to remove the cover. If all you want to do is get to the dials for any reason, is it still necessary to remove the entire cluster?

Be sure to check that the bulbs are not over powered! Bulbs with too much wattage do burn the dials

Thanks for the tip. I think they are OEM bulbs but will check anyway to be sure.
