I'm having real problems refitting the door handle/arm rest in my CQ. I can't get any thing to line up, I've spent ages trying to get it to fit with no luck. Has any body got any suggestion that would make this easier.

make sure the allen bolts are catching thread before you put the handle onto the door itself. I'm assuming you have the doorcard on and the 2 metal L brackets are screwed onto the door itself? if the allen bolts have already caught a bit of thread then once you shove the handle/arm rest onto the 2 brackets it should just be a matter of tightening the front 2 bolts up. The rear one may take a bit of arsing about though.
what stage are you stuck at?

Not sure what you're struggling with, possibly not opening the clamps far enough that grip the brackest on the door? If you push on the edge closest to the rear of the car onto the armrest thats already on the door, then push the forward edge in place over the bracket, then just tighten up the clamps with alan keys and tighten up the bolt on the rear edge.
I can only get one of the 2 metal L brackets to line up. The one nearest the dash board is no problem but the other one seem to be out of line. I have the clamps as loose as they will go with out un-threading the bolts and still it will not go. I also had to drill a new hole as there was no way I could get a alan key to the Hold on the clap with the exsisting hole.
Its like the clamps must have moved but I can't see how.
It's possible that by drilling a hole you have damaged the clamp inside. The pre existing holes make it tricky but it is possible, you shouldn't need to be drilling holes to get to it. I would be inclined to think the armrest is damaged.
first thing first....
see the 2 metal brackets.. are they both sitting snugly in the depressions in the doorcard? (depressions should be the right shape as the "base" of the brackets)
If they are then the 2 clamps should fit right over the top. Where did you have to drill this hole? In the door or in the clamp within the handle?

If it should be straight foward then some thing is out of place as its proving to be a total pig. I'm going to have another look at it tomorrow and I might have to make some alterations.
you're right mate it really should be straightforward. That's not to say that straightforward things don't usually turn onto a complete nightmare. check the brackets haven't been turned round 180 degrees, because the bit that sticks out will then be a bit too far left or right... if that makes any sense. If you're still stuck let us know tomorrow and i'll get a handle off and send pics so we can see where it's gone wrong
