    Heated seat switch differences

I've just switched the dash in the avant for a mint one and whilst I was there I fitted a heated seat loom. When I was doing this I noticed I had two different types of switch one with 5 pins on the back and one with 6 pins.

Just wondered if anyone knew the differences and if someone has a spare 5 pin switch.

The 5 pin switch is the same length as say a fog light switch whilst the 6 pin one is the same length as the rear window switch from an aircon car (with the auto time off)

do you need the long of the short one? Short are the older ones, long are the newer ones. u can also get them from other audis of that era...

                Agree with Skull.
Earlier loom used two separate relays that went on the relay plate under the drivers shelf.
Later one did away with the separate relays, which moved into the switch itself, hence the longer switch

Yeah that must account for the loom I got with the two longer switches, it was cut around pretty badly and did not have anywhere to plug in the relays.

i'll probably bin that loom and maybe the switches.

dont do that, you can rewire the old loom, you probably need only to bridge the right wires in the relay connector...
