    Accelerator Pedal

    Don’t laugh…

    I’ve broken it…

Well, the flappy plastic bit that is spring loaded. Any idea to the following questions –

1 – is it an MOT failure with it missing?
2 – how does it come apart?
3 – Is there an alternative pedal cover that can be fitted?

    Many thanks

    Ian

    (PS – I wasn’t thrashing it, honest).

I didnt bother with spring bit and cut it off the grip filled the plastic bit back onto the pedal after scoring the pedal and plastic bit to make it stick and its been fine since. I didnt like the spring loaded pedal anyway.

Recently fixed mine - same problem. Hadnt got round to fixing it since buying the car a couple of years ago. After seeing this thread I used no-more-nails. The plastic pedal is now firmly attached. Rather than laying in the door card pocket !

P.S. No its not an MOT failure, but I think you may know that already based on your other recent post!

this reply may be a bit late but I just noticed it
                  1 - no
2 if the flappy bit breaks it's easiest just to replace the whole thing. It's fixed on pretty permanently. reach in and grab the plastic fulcrum piece that the pedal arm pivots over. tug the whole thing towards you and it will pop out complete. the opposite end from the bit you stick your foot on has a notch cut in it and the throttle cable end fits in here. anyone breaking a coupe should be able to send you the full pedal and it's not too bad to swap them. Only issue i've found is the throttle cable runs over a pulley before passing through the bulkhead so it's best if you take the old pedal out, keep tension on the cable and transfer it immediately to the new pedal before you push the fulcrum part into place.
3- as the guys have said you can stick something into place but there's not much backing there to drill through if you wanted to drill and bolt on a replacement pedal.

now here's where you come back and say you've just done that and i'm rambling to myself

                    You're going to kill me.....

I've just done that (3 - the original pedal cover), and it's passed it's MOT....

There was a slight technical issue just after the MOT, but I won't digress...
