Steering wheel refurbishment?

The clear coat has come off some areas of my RS2's steering wheel. Is this common or shall I put it down to New Zealands harsh sun?
Has anyone refurbished or had there wheel refurbished?
Also, I have seen pics of alcantara rimmed steering wheels on RS2's, was this a factory option? If not is it hard to do?
In reality I think I would rather refurbish the leather on my steering wheel.
Any advice would be great.

It looks to me like it needs reconnolising. Have a look for a specialist leather refurbisher. Otherwise it is a new one I am afraid.

I'm lookng at having mine re trimmed and have had quotes from £120 - £400

Someone told me that you could still buy the wheels direct from Audi... worth a call
