The door seal is in nicely. Both sides where a bit loose at bottom of windscreen area cos of the fractured clip, but passenger side is bone dry.

The new clip on the seal has helped greatly but it must be getting past the screen seal. What is the deal with that trim panel near the A-pillar ?

I seem to recall it can be fractured on removal - that would be my luck...

If that happens I'll just pour a can of petrol on the back seat, casually light up a packet of Castella and retire to a safe distance and watch the stupid car burn. I'm kidding... but I am really getting ****ed orf with this.

Next thing to try is some of that silicone based window sealant and trickle that down the pillar a few times. I'd have done that first if I'd been able to see that as source of leak but there was so much water getting in from elsewhere on a larger scale that I never knew.

Must post the video - its bizarre.

Yep mines the same, water drips in from around the dash area. I changed the bonnet cable and grommet a short while ago but it is still the same.

I have resorted to a bucket in the footwell now to catch the water. Top motor!

@Mark - yours seems to be leaking somewhere different to mine... But at least you have a gazillion horsepower to play with. In saying that - I had a nice big 4-wheel drift around a beemer on a roundabout today and there was some comedy with a sloshing noise of the previous nights rainfall swishing round the cabin.

Anyway - watch the attached MP4 video - even on camera phone quality you can see the A-pillar crying its tears of despondency... it is running down the inside of the pillar and escaping at this seam.

I think I have water coming in from the same place as u in my avant. It seems to be dripping in from under the roof coloured pillar liner where it meets the top of the dash just by the door. It dribbles down the side of the dash inbetweeen that and the door, then drips onto my carpet! All on the passenger side! How annoying!

It is one of the most bizarre things to watch... I had stopped the hose for a few minutes and ripped back the door seal in frustration - and these drops of water just appear from metal like some sort of magic trick.

I'm not going to try and remove the body trim at the windscreen where it meets A-pillar as I don't wish to risk damaging it. I'll get lots of that specialist silicone stuff down that channel and see what happens.

just ripped my interior out, seats sat next to me in the study and cleared the trim away to try and get the carpet out. in the process found the the drivers side rear is also soaked again. Peeling back the door seal in the same spot and I think i have the same issue Paul..additionally agood snoop about and i realise that half the rivets are missing on the a pillar for the screen too

Quick question, how do you remove the centre console round the handbrake to lift the carpet out? Courrently eludes me lol

                Cheers

Oh and before you go taking out the carpet... I learnt a trick about the plastic footrest on drivers side... I damaged mine taking it out as I thought it was interference / clip fittings. Well it turns out (when you see a new one) that there are three (or four ?) plastic pins which spread out the clips to secure the part on the bodywork. WIth a punch you should be able to tap those pins all the way thru so that the footrest can be removed without breaking the clips.

Be careful cutting carpet behind the centre console.

And expect a mighty sodden mess of underfelt (now NLA) under the carpet.

At least I'm not in this club alone I feel a bit better.

Cheers Paul, i'll see how i go on Friday getting the console out and carpet out. My underfelt is scrap now on the drivers side and very likely on the passenger side too. I'll make sure i'm putting back something that cant suck all the water up if it leaks again and hopefully something a tad lighter too as the car is spending more of its life on the track these days too

Those rivets: if you pull the door rubber on the a-pillar down, you should be able to see where they go in small recesses all the way down the pillar. Looks on mine that i have rivets only at the top and base of the window. I need to get the roof resprayed so the glass will have to come out anyway but i'll be bloody sure to make sure they do a proper job this time round.

I'll stick some photos up as i get going...

                            Cheers

I've just had a scan through this thread, and I was thinking the same.
My car has a replacement windscreen just before I got it, and half the rivets were missing causing a leak as you describe. Just a wee dribble by the bonnet release pull.

I discovered only 2 weeks ago that my coupe leaks really bad. i havent established how it is getting in yet, but i have seen water dribble witness marks on the door card below the bottom of the a pillar (only visible with the door open) and the misses swears she has seen water dripping below the glovebox??

Whe parked on a hill the water has been known to be 2-3inches ABOVE the carpet in the rear footwell. My temporary fix has been just to remove the bungs under the car on the passenger side.
