I want to fit my aftermarket steering wheel to the cab. Problem is the cabs airbag equipped. Does anyone know of an adaptor boss available speciaically for airbag models ?

Here is what you need. I'm in the process of doing this too.

upper and lower column covers from a car that has standard non-airbag steering wheeand the boss hub for the 80/90 B3/B4. Could be made by any brand like momo/nardi/boss etc..
    Cheers mis amigos,

ive already got the boss as ive had the wheel on numerous other 80/90 cou[es ive had but none have had airbags. There's no wiring there for the horn in the same way the non airbag models have

This is the reply i got when i asked a similar question on fans

The airbag wheels use a different means of activating the horn, there is no copper strip for the horn connector, instead there is a plastic collar mounted on the rear of the wheel with an internal swivel that the horn wire pushes in to. This collar fits in to a square hole in the cowling so it all becomes neat and flush.

The logical next move is to swap the cowl over and fudge a wire to activate the horn, the cowls are not interchangeable to my knowledge and the centre hole for the indicator cancel is different between the 2 with the airbag wheel having a larger diameter inner. This also precludes the fitment of the airbag switchgear to the non airbag steering column, plus on my cars at least the wiring was different!

Hi did you find the answer to this in the end?
I have a 1995 B4 Coupe and want to fit my Audi 80 3 spoke wheel too....But mine has the Airbag and square slip ring setup....

Do i need to remove square slip ring and transfer, or modify old boss adapter?
Have read elsewhere to swap over cowl and switches from older coupe without airbag? Is this do-able

        Thanks in advance
