    B5 steering wheel

Does anyone know if a B5 wheel would fit straight on?
It would be replacing a 4 spoke airbag one

Yes it fits, you have to fanny around with the indicator cancel or change the stalks. Couls are different also.

Cheers, thought that would be the case.
Cant decide whether to get one the same as my S4, or an original non airbag 3 spoke S2.
One thing I do know... the 4 spoke bus wheel has to go!

Not sure about the B5 steering wheel fitting but I can tell you that the non airbag three spoke S2 original may need a shim fixing to the indicator cancelling tab on the steering wheel.

Mine didn't quite hit the stalk cancel buttons all the time, as they were either worn slightly or the diameter to the edge of the cancel tab is slightly less than the 4 spoke bus wheel. You may also want to remove the airbag warning light bulb from behind the cluster BTDT

I never tried the B5 wheel. Shame as I sold my A4 Avant TDI with a three spoke, airbag S steering wheel
AUDI S2 - There can be only one..............

Found any old steering wheel thread to add some info I couldnt find, and have since discovered.

            My car: 1995 S2 Coupe
            Doner steering wheel: 2000 B5.5 A4.

I think my car has the later stalks and hence the b5.5 wheel cancelling works perfectly. If the clockspring isn't on the steering wheel when you buy it, any old golf 4 clock spring is also the same. I haven't gotten the steering column covers to fit back on yet, i think i'm going to have to try some B5 covers as the clockspring gets in the way of putting the covers back on (lower and upper). You'll also need the small to large spline adapter which you can find on any golf 3 (and cut it down to fit). So if you have a 1995 B4, and a facelift B5 steering wheel, all you really need is the wheel itself, the clockspring (bought on ebay for $10), the golf 3 spline adapter and some different steering column cowels (will update when i know which ones fit). Airbags should be compatible, albeit with different plugs.

Pre facelift B5 steering wheels will be a direct bolt on to 1995 and 1996 models.

Hmm just bought a wheel presumably off an A4, quite a chance it won't fit my '93 coupe then?

You will need an adapter for the spline, new column covers and possibly a modification to the canceling ring on the clockspring.
