    RHD to LHD swap?

Hey everyone, been a while since I've been over here.

Anyway, I may have found an S2 Avant stateside that I am going to scoop. i've always wanted an Avant and we never got them across the pond. Anyway, the car is from the UK and is RHD. While I can see the allure of driving a RHD Skyline around, I'd rather convert this one to LHD. So, what needs to be done. I have a CQ currently, so I would imagine I have most the parts I would need to do this, right?

    Any BTDTs would be great.

    thx

The big thing is the firewall... If you were serious about doing this you would probably want a donor b4 90. use the firewall, pedal box, dash, ect from it. Along with steering column brake booster, steering rack, the list goes on and on for those mechanical items. you would also want to source a LHD Wiring harness for the car. That is all I can think of at this moment....

Forget it, there's way too many parts that you'll need. You're much better off leaving it as it is......................oh and you'll soon get used to the RHD
S2 Avant......fully loaded   Slipper Wagons Rule !!!!!

If a Skyline is alluring to drive RHD, then why not an S2 aswell?
Keeping it RHD would make it a bit more special/rare over there surely?

keeping it RHD would still mean that the steering wheel is still on the wrong side...

Still don´t understand why britain and her former colonies made it complete different to the rest of the world....

whatever, i agree to the Guru, there are enough LHD cars in germany, austria, Switzerland in good condition for small prices...

          Cheers

Cheap if you are in those countries, not cheap if you then have to get it shipped to USA!

The firewall is already ready for the conversion. you only need to drill holes and remove some excessive reinfortsments (on top of the f-wall).

                it is not easy, but...

Briskan you are trying to make a silk purse from a sow's...

ear. The cost to do the conversion and making it drivable AND SAFE will probably cost more than the car itself. And if you can get it past the DOT people who will be on your *** when the car comes in..... Get a car from Germany. Less headache and you have a chance of getting it on the road. You should ask Saltinot owner of the RS2 America how he got his car into the States.

                    I'd agree

                    with Panzerwagen.

Bite the bullet and pay the money up front and source / import a LHD car. The finished product will be better / worth more in the end IMHO.

                    Kind regards.

Well here is the other question, if it is already here in the states, is it already registered and "federalized"? if so buy it and use it, otherwise import.
