Recaro Pole Position seats in S2 Coupè

Hi !

Have anyone of you installed Recaro Pole Position seats in your Coupè ? I was wondering how you have done it with the seatframe to keep all the existing functionallity. I was told I had to weld and do a lot to make it fit properly, it this rigt or have any of you found another way to make it work?

i had them in my S2 coupe 96 model.

I had no problems fitting them with "König" Consoles.

If you want, you can have the consoles, i´ve changed my seats again..

This consoles with the pole positions are also working fine in the Audi S2 3B, we´ve tested this in a friend´s S2..

I would like to have the consoles Did you manage to keep the adjustments the same as with the original seats, or is it not possible to adjust anything at all ?
Does the seats sit a little bit high or am I wrong?

Doug @ MRC has done this, I have Recaro Speeds, they all use the same subframes, it's just the sidemounts that bolt on the the seats that are the difference, teh side mounts have the bolt spacing for teh subframes...

I checked this out and was told that the "bolt on" subframes was out of production and it was only some universal kits available Does anyone have a link or contact that can get me this?

Correct, Ebay.de is about the only option I'm afraid. I was luck to get the passenger side one I required off there for sensible money, B5 subframes go for over 200 euros the pair now, more than they were new! Other than that there are the odd pair that pop up on here, don't hold your breath though...

Another option is to get mk.3 Golf ones and make them fit, the runners all line up, it's just that they're not quite square so need either shimming or some cutting and shutting. Not a boad option as they're available new for £200 ish the pair or secondhand on ebay.de for sub 100 euros.

Is it possible to use the subframe on the original S2 seats and use these without any major modifications?

Depends on your definition of major. You can use the frames from height adjustable seats (they're lower) and get teh required mounting points welded to it, needs to be done properly though. Acidburn and skull have done various things like this. Might as well get some mk.3 subframes to play with first, fitzy is the man to speak to about what needs altering, he had some off me There are 2 types of mk.3 subframes, lower and standard height. Not sure on clearance but you'll need all the help you can get if the car has a sunroof.

there are different possibilities to solve this problem.

my solution on the picture with the könig consoles is that the console is fixed. the forward/backward adjustment is possible with the "seat-rails" between the seat and the console. (difficult to explain for me)

the original Recaro-solution works different, there is the forward/backward adjustment on the console itself like at the original audi-seats.

this solution doesn´t require the "seat-rails", which means that the seat is coming lower..

my solution is a high one, yes. the original recaro would be lower.

You can have both König-Consoles, no problem. I´d like to have for them 120€ plus shipping.

i´ve also got a Recaro-Console for the drivers side for sale. if you want, let me know..
