Full cage would be nice but I'd like to be able to use the car without too much chance of hurting myself on the bars so I'd prob go half cage to start, be nice to have the option of upgrading at a later date... all la la land for now but good fun

That was my thoughts on a full cage, not much fun if you have to wear a helmet everywhere for a daily, dont fancy harnesses without at least a rear cage though.

And yeah the carpet is a pita when wet, pretty akward shape for lugging about as well.

Are you thinking of a bolt in rear then?

I think of a lot of things but money's too tight to mention at the mo... Bolt in half cage would be ideal with my setup, weicehrs sport are the kiddies for that, would be interested in there was the option of removing the front bars for non track use, you can of course use the pipe lagging to stop involuntary concussions... Alos, a detachable harness bar and floor anchor points would be nice for a set of harnesses, need to look into the floor points. I was also thinking of various designs for a rear brace bar, the coupe needs all the help it can get!!!

That would finish off the interior nicely, along with a aluminium blanking plates over the rear doors and rear bench. I was also thinking of stripping a set of rear seats to the frames to allow for the parcel shelf to be used if a secure boot area was needed. That said, for as long as I have a spare car, that's not an issue

I have a friend who builds dragsters, proper cages, etc, etc and I asked him about buidling me a bolt in half cage for one of my old cars.
His reply was that he would not touch one with a barge pole, and refused to build one or put his name anywhere near one!
Basically, if your car rolled, would you want the cage to do its job properly, or have the potential situation of bolts shearing and then having loose pipework free to puncture through anything that gets in its way?!

The rollover hoop is one piece on them, see your point though but then they're bloomin big bolts, will take some serious forces to shear them, more likely to cripple the tubing tbh.

ATEOTD, they are nothing more than show cages really.
Leave them for the Saxo boys IMO
Plus, Im no expert myself, I was going to get one myself before I spoke to someone who makes cages for a living!

i modifed my cage - fabricated platforms and welded bigger pads onto the cage as the standard ones were flimsy

thinking about another cross bar as well - that sticky stuff on the roof is harder to get off than the sound deadning!!!!

Drove mine back today without the carpet and soaking floor sound deadening in and it sounds awesome Not quite so refined on the motorway but then that's always going to be a slight trade-off. Can't wait to get the Christmas crap out the car (and the carpet etc. that's rolled up), oh and the spare wheel and go for a drive, that should be 100kg shed from the car, easy

Can now get the leaks sorted without the water soaking into the carpet etc. and the sound deadening making the car smell of mould and damp

Yeah, it's like the automotive equivalent of your balls dropping, everything gets louder and deeper

Tar removal would be a nice next step but I'll have to re-paint the floor after that so no point till it's warmer...

                            Help...

How does one remove the plastic foot rest for the 'clutch foot'?

I can see three holes in one of the early piccies...is it a push fit or hdden nuts behind the carpet...

It is a push fit, and near enough impossible to remove without breaking it.
I vaguely remember someone posted a way of doing it on here ages ago, might be worth a hunt.
When I say near enough impossible, I may as well put you can't!

find the pins and tap them right through, then lift of the foot rest.
