crash data stored error in air bag ecu

Had an air bag light on my A4 since it was stood for a couple months, the error is "crash data stored in ecu"
Even tho the car hasn't been crashed, vag com won't let me reset the error, is there another way round this? Been told I can swap the ecu, also been told u can't use an ecu that's already been coded to another car?

Actual values all read 1111 apart from the passenger air bag which reads 1110 which is short to positive, would this have caused the error in the ecu? My thinking is more likely to be a crap connector, or is this code a way of disabling the passsenger air bag as there is no key in the glove box to turn it off?

    Cheers
