    Steering wheel boss

    Morning!

I want to put my little baby Momo in my cq, does the standard boss come off my standard 3 spoke jobby? If so would it then be compatible with said Momo?

Otherwise what boss do I need? It's a 1992 cq, looks like a B4 but I'm led to believe they're still B3 underneath? Are B3 & B4 column splines different?

I was kinda hoping it'd be same fitment as my Golf, but it turns out I can't swap anything over from my Golf like I was hoping!

Stock steering wheels are Nardi so they're a 74mm PCD, Momo is 70mm PCD, OE boss is also offset by about 10mm. Best thing to do is just get one off ebay, should be one for £20 delivered second hand. Wouldn't suggest going smaller than 350mm on the steering wheel, I tried a 325mm and it was way too small, looked rediculous too.

I've got a 280mm to go on, I love it, it's so good to drive with!

I've had it in my Golf for a couple of years with no power steering, lowered on 9j wheels and it was still stunning! It might actually be a bit more useable with power steering

Just curious what is the benefit/reason for this?

probably to tweak the driving position - lots of press in the early days of the B3 / B4 series cars said the steering wheel was too high

This fit the bill? Or will I have a different size spline being a 1992?

i have one of those that has just arrived to put a 20v wheel on one of my Urs and the item you get looks different to the picture. its a pile of crap tbh and needs fiddling with which i expected. i will be stunned if it works. The splines are ok it the horn/indicator cancelling that will be interesting, its made in Turkey which is apt

As long as it will fit a 92 cq, and a Momo will fit to it, it'd suit me just fine!

It's just whether or not it will fit a 92 cq...?

i would say it will, assume that it could be £20 wasted which is what i did as finding a boss to fit is a nightmare
Just fitted the wheel to the boss fine, i will look at it on the car when i get home and try it on the car....i think i will have to grind the lug down though for the indicator cancelling

Fits fine, only downside is the hooter does not work with either wheel! checked the fuse so that's another job... FFS

So the splines on a cq and a UR are the same?

I can live without self cancelling indicators

well i know people who have transferred wheels across no problem, but as i have not had a cq cannot confirm this
