The lit one is made from OEM gearknob. I can translate the original guide into new thread(or into OEM+ lightning thread) if interested.

Rusty, sorry for hijacking your thread
    That would be fine!

Don't suppose anyone knows the part number for the OE 6 speed gear knob?

I'm looking for one for the S6 - I assume it was the same as the 6 speed S2?

        Cheers,
        Tom

I got the aluminium prototype through today and I'm really pleased with it! Cheers to Bambridge

Fitted and driven and the extra weight helps to smooth out the gear change (over the Delring or OE plastic/leather one).

            Pics and prices to follow.

Hi Andy. What size thread is the gear knob in the S2, please? I've got this itch to get a pool ball for mine (remembers back to his 1st car , a mini 25)!
              Cheers, Raoul.

People typically run shift knob illumination wires to the light in the ashtray area, at least for C4s.

Well it's easily the best non-factory gearknob that I've seen for the Audi 80. I particularly like the fact that it covers the top end of the gear gaiter, I like its black anodized finish and its shape that mimmicks that of the OEM gearknob. As I have made a custom gear gaiter myself I don't like the OEM gearknob but I do like it's shape and size.

The only thing I would also want is to have the original's exact chrome-on-black shift pattern on top of the gearknob. Either by making a round recess on top in order to insert the OEM's plastic cap or by engraving the shift pattern which I can possibly later fill using led or something so that it's flush with the surrounding surface. I think it'd look very smart, wouldn't it?

Can't remember what they cost, think it was about £10 each. £10 delivered?

If I could find a good source for the OE gate sticker, I can design around it
