Costs of cars and options when new

I've recently got my hands on an original 1994 S2 brochure and a full 1994 price list with all the opitons etc.

I cant' belive that wood trim was actually a COST option over the carbon fibre £108 extra on the S2 and £153 on the S4

Some strange cost differences though:

Aircon was £20 more expensive in the coupe than the avant
Aircon in lieu of sunroof was £330 for the Coupe but £800 for the avant

Leather was £1500 ish for both cars
Heating added another £204 to the avant and £270 to the coupe

Electric rear windows on the coupe were £588

Remote central locking was about £220 for each car but you couldn't have it in combination with heated door locks (£90)

In 1994 the price for the cars ex number plates and delivery were:

S2 coupe £32032.85
S2 Avant £32212.63
100 S4 £32895.30
100 S4 Avant £34094.98

Wonder what that equates to 10years down the line taking into account inflation etc. Probably a fook of a lot

I like the fact that all metalic and pearl colours were free except pearl white

Even the ski bag hole thing from boot to rear cabin was £120

Would it be possible to have the price listed posted on here? I'd be interested to know what my car cost as new.
£35k springs to mind, but if it was £32.2 for the base car and £1500 for leather, then I'm almost there already with loads more options to go.

Sounds like you got a bargain @ £6000! That means at 10 years old it has retained 17% of it's value. If you think that the decent price for a good 1994 one at the moment is about £7000-8000 (obviously depending on mileage etc) that's just over 20%.

That's really good compared to maost cars. If you can get 40% after three years it's considereded depreciation proof.

My other car (Nissan Primera ) had only retained 12% of its value after 7 years when I bought it. Most Mondeos and stuff will retain even less.
