    Instrument differences

Just found out that the instruments fitted to the 16v might be different to those on the 5 and 6 pot cars and thus the dial faces are minutely different Or there is a difference between early and late dials... Anyone got a few sets that they can have a look at and measure to see if there are indeed any differences?

Main differences seem to be the odometer digits are narrower, the dials are held on with cross head rather than flat head screws, the trip is at a slightly different position on the dial and the mounting points for the screws are different...

Just had a quick browse through my photo collection, the dials you are talking about only seem to appear on 4cyl and 6cyl cars. Redline is ~6300rpms on them too. And i would lay money only 1992 onwards cars as 10v and 20v CQ's have the same layout spacing as an S2. Dosent seem to matter if the dials are MPH or KPH, but i did notice most S2 KPH dials have torx head screws.

Yup, those are the ones Bloody typical Audi, looks the same but it's not...

I'll have to watch out for this...

Not sure when the dates lie, one of those pics has an airbag steering wheel which might be a clue.

That was my deductive reasoning. And the other pic has the later aux gauge surround and a hazard warning button suggesting a late model car. All the 5cyl 10v/20v pics i found were the same as the S2, but they all died out in the 1991 model year and were replaced by the v6 engines.
