    Trim removal

Finally got hold of some carbon trim to replace my wood trim. I have searched the forum for a BTDT, but cannot find one. If anyone could give me a few pointers i would appreciate it.

You will have to remove the door cards. Then you will be able to see easily how they are removed. As for the one on the dash if you open the glove box and look/feel behind you will find 3 (IIRC) pins with locking washers. Gently remove these washers and the panel will just pull off.

It is easy enough, but take your time and don't break any clips. Have a read of this thread it will help you. Good Luck.

This thread will tell you how to get the door cars off. Then its just a matter of unclipping the trim and swapping it over.

The dash piece is actually held on with 6 washers. Its a bit of a back breaking job. I found myself lying upside down on the passenger seat with my feat through the sunroof! Elegant as always.

You need to remove the glove box. If you have cruise control then its a lot easier if you remove the module situated up behind the trim, but it is possible to remove the washers with it still in place. I used a small terminal screwdriver and a pair of needle pliers to basically rip the washers off. Once all 6 are off the trim should just pull off the front. Straighten out your washers and refit the new trim. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Now all you have to do is get yourself out of the car - easier said than done.

Found myself in this same position in an old MGB GT V8 a few weeks back... but on the drivers side, so the steering wheel was in the way too.
