From driver only airbag dashboard to double airbag dashboard on S2 Coupe ABY

[Audi-Porsche Avant RS2]

Hello friends, I want change the dashboard of mine S2 Coupe ABY that is with only driver airbag with one with also passenger airbag, what I need and what I must know for do it? Sure I need the correct dashboard with also Climatronic temperature sensor on it, driver and passenger airbag, passenger glove box, front door cards and for airbag ecu?
Passenger glove box is different from early RS2 to last RS2, is right?
Also for S2 is the same?
Dashboard from Coupe, Avant, Limo and Cabrio are the same or not?

dashboards are all the same coupe/cabrio/avant/limo! I have changed my old (S2 3B) dashboard with an double airbag. It fits plug and play
Yes the passenger glove box from the old one is different to the new one.

all dashboards fit to all b3 and b4 cars. but...

to install the double airbag dash you need the parts from it, including the heavy golden brackets, and also the air ducts!, because of the airbag.

also, you need matching door cards, for the front doors.

p.s.: i belive all the lhd double airbag dashboards have the grille on top for the klimatronic sensor. with cars with no klimatronic, it is just the grille, no sensor inside. but if the dash has no grille, it is easy to drill a hole for it, as the hole is marked...

Sure I must change dashboard and I will buy one complete with all parts, I need also a passenger airbag with carbon trim and front door cards, are front door cards for coupe ABY with passenger airbag the same for all years or not?
I know that change something between 1994 and 1995 dashboard with double airbag, but what? Passenger glove box only or more?

there is only one type of passenger side airbag type dashboard AFAIK.

there is also only one version of the passenger side airbag door cards.

the passenger side airbag was available since middle 1994...

For example Tots sell 1994 and 1995 dashboard, why? I know sure that change passenger glovebox because on mine S2 Avant passenger glovebox is different from mine RS2, the glovebox handle is different.

hey guys,

there is a big difference in both versions.

the first version is between 1993 and 1994.

the second version is between 1994 and 1996.

differences are a lot:

glove box is completely different, box underneath the steering wheel is different, for example the cars til 94 don´t have a box underneath the steering wheel. the cars from 94 on have a box there..

also the complete rear-side of the dashboard is changend, although the passenger side airbags are totally different and not changeable.

for example do you need to weld brackets in your early car without passengerside airbag when you´re using a version until 1994.

if you´re using a version from 94 on you don´t have to weld brackets in your car.

if you want to go for a new dashboard, use the model-year 95 version on.

That looks to me the same dash of my 1995 RS2 and 1997 Cabriolet 8G.

I must thoug say that I found few differences on a 1994 RS2 (double airbag) with 4 spokes steering wheel that I drove once, and mine.

Can't recall what it was but I believe they're defenetely different underneath the sterering wheel and in the gloves box no idea about the dash itself.

Last model dashboard is the better one I think and is the one that have my RS2 that is a my 1995, my S2 Avant have the first model with double airbag I think and so I will chech the difference between them and post here.

This is the version without passenger airbag like my S2 Coupe ABY, only driver airbag, but there are also two different versions with double airbag.

This is my RS2 and is the last version double airbag I think



This is a S2 Avant and is the first version double airbag I think



Today I try to take some pictures from my S2 Avant that is a first model double airbag dashboard I think.

RS2 in your picture Stefano is a model without passenger airbag, driver airbag only like my S2 Coupe ABY and also front door cards are different from model with driver only airbag and model with double airbag.
Now I don't know if door cards change also from model with fist double airbag dashboard and last double airbag dashboard.
