    audi cab help?

hi there i have just got a audi 80 cabriolet 1998, with the 2.6 v6, the fuel and temp gauge wernt but i managed to get a set of s2 clocks all fitted and working only problem is the tacho is showing a little higher than the actual revs the engines doing. The seat belts dont go back in when i take them off in the front does any one know how to sort this out? I have had a price of £180 plus vat for new tensioners each side from audi.. Didnt know if they cross reference with another car with the same seatbelts so they may be cheaper?

    Regards tom

Hi Tom, welcome to the S2forum...

The clocks will never read properly as the S2 clocks are for 5 cylinder cars only. You may be able to take both sets of clocks apart and transfer the inner workings from the 6 cyl clocks and put them into your S2 clocks.

As far as the seatbelts are concerned, try pulling them out to their full extent, wash them with warm soapy water and a nail brush, allow them to dry and then see if the retract any better.

brilliant thanks for your help i will try that i have just come from a mk4 golf tdi so i think i will be inbesting in shares in shell from what people say there like on fuel.., i woudnt mind if the seat belts were £80 or so a piece but not £170 plus vat aside, they said to check the part number and they maybe the same as another car so might be able to get them cheaper, does washing them make much difference? All the other clocks work fine its just the tacho for example on tick over its showing 1500rpm and when it should be doing 3000rpm its show about 5 and half.. I can live with it aslong as fuel and water temp are all alright...

        Hi.

The problem of the temp and fuel gauges erratic behaviour it's well known on the Cabriolet

The solution it's dead easy and works 100%
Before doing this I changed on my cluster:
Gauges both from a donor cluster
        Tension regulator
        Fuel sender
        Cooling temp sender
        All with no avail....

Then I found this on AudiCabrio.de credit to them for the pictures and hint of course.

            audi cab help?

Hi, Just a quick question for you, when you got your s2 clocks did you fit them yourself and were they easy too fit as i have a set and not very good with cars so was hoping they are easy to do. Cheers Steve.
