    aaargh fuel warning

    Anyone help !!
Recently bougt an S2 ( coffin carrier as me father ses ) that
the fuel warning lamp ( & kin BLEEEEEP ) goes off with around 90 mile remaining in fuel. Is there any way of calibrating as iv'e had a few Audi's with same auto check system, all have warned low fuel at around 40 mile?
Any solution would be great as it really does bug the ****!!!
or is it that it drinks fuel like coke and gives plenty of warning ?

Thanks Dale with constant Bleeeeep in ears..

Does the Autocheck warning lamp & bleep calculate seperately from the fuel gauge & trip computer (anyone) ? It's probably these which may need calibrating. I've just done both of mine tonight actually - see the BTDT guide on S2Central for detailed procedure (Technical/Electrical Systems/Instruments & Cluster/Autocheck Info/Fuel & Range Calibration).

yes they run separate, but you can only calibrate the gauge AFAIK
calibrate the gauge by pulling the rubber bung out of the pin that is by the fuel gauge then using a allen key in there to adjust it

its the pin that looks like its a blank, almost flush with the clear front of the cluster...

never come across the autocheck adjustment??

You CAN adjust the Autocheck in this regard - follow the technical links on S2 Central to electrical and instrument cluster. Its there...

I guess the Autocheck warning lamp/bleep must be calculated separately from the range in the trip computer though as mine didn't come on even though the range said 'E'.

You need to keep on driving. It'll come on in a few miles (maybe 20) after the E appears. At this point - start looking for a petrol station. If you ignore the Autocheck warning for too long you will run out of fuel! BTDT

                Dale.
Unless you're very lucky you'll have to remove the cluster anyway to remove the cap on the front of the adjuster. Removing the cluster is easy enough it's stripping it down to get to this cap which is fiddly.
