How do you separate the clear plastic from the front of the dash clocks, (ie to clean it and fit the chrome dial surrounds) without breaking it? (audi 90 B3)

don't think you can, without breaking it. Its bonded together with a "melt" type adhesive.
Take the clocks out the back of the housing, then you can wipe it out, squeaze the rings through the holes and clip them into place
