With the door closed I don't think you can dismount the inner panel

Don't see how to crack this one

i suspect it will be the lock/latch assembly its self that is at fault, inner door trims are always almost impossible to remove without damage unless on old fiestas etc. which this is clearly not...
i would recommend pulling on the door handles whilst operating the central locking simultaneously from both inside and outside and try to catch it just enough to pop the locking mech open.
failing this i would recommend a trip to a good bodyshop?!!
      good luck

have u tried unlocking it with the key in the lock itself rather than using central locking? just a thought as it mite be deadlocked?..
if the cable has come off it runs from the inner door handle to the latch to operate the locking release mechanism (requiring door card removing to get in to it). there is a small cable or rod which connects the outer handle to the locking release mechanism too, this on later vag models is only changeable by removing the lock barrell which needs the door open in the first place.
either way i think the only way to see anything for a starting point would be to get the door card off... this is why i think the problem lies with with the lock/latch its self as i cant see both of these to have come off at the same time???
did u try operating central locking at same time as pulling handles? even so if u do get it open this way u will have just the same bother the next time u shut the door.

took car to mates paint shop he had a snap on break in kit, which basically is a flat bar 5 mins later door open , removed door card to find plastic lock cover had dropped into door lock causing it to seize, removed working ok. while car was there i said refurb wheels and do paint correction on all of the car and respray front grills.
will have car back on friday looking like new
                  thanks for advice
