    UrS6 instrument cluster in UrS4?

    Greetings from NZ
I drive a 94 S4 and i have a access to a 95 S6 thats being parted. My S4 speedo keeps on getting stuck around 100 to 120kph and the odometer stopped working recently also i like the digital odometer in the S6 over the analog one in the S4, so since the connections on both clusters look the same i decided to try and use the S6 cluster with the S4 aux gauges (i want my oil pressure) and the S4 rev counter face (with the S4 badge on it) however when i did that and connected everything i get an ABS light and the brake symbol along with the beep warning... does anyone know if its possible to use the S6 cluster in the S4, maybe it needs to be reset or is the wiring different?
    cheers

There are definite similarities and differences between the UrS4 and UrS6 clusters. Here are a couple of threads that might help you:

    The Audi Enthusiast website. Forums for all Audis including A4, S4, A5, S5, A6, S6, allroad, A8, S8, TT, R8, Q5, Q7, 4000, 100, 200, v6, v8, vintage, local forums

Bottomline, they are close but not 100% interchangeable.

      Hi!

I am about to swap cluster urs6/urs4

When i have mounted together my urs6 cluster in my urs4, i get the alarm on ABS, and red light in autocheck from hydraulic servo.

Why is that? Is there any way to get this work ? I have read in the links above, but i could not find anything according to my problem.

At last, sorry for my bad grammar =)

As far as I know the instrument cluster wiring harnesses are different between UrS4 and UrS6 so that could be the start of the problem. Also depending on the year of the UrS6 cluster, it could be from the later ABS system, i.e. the one with EDL, which is different than the UrS4 and early UrS6 ABS systems.

I thought the S4 ones have a manual type mileage display and the S6 a digital milometer, so surely they wont swap?

It can be done, and yes there are some small wiring differences. I have a S6 cluster in my 100c4q. The one thing is ABS warning, that's because S6 cluster ABS pin is in different location than s4 and completely opposite signal, the signal can be reversed with a relay. Here is link how to, just use Google translate. http://pcteknik.dk/bil/Audi_100_til_...umentering.htm

Oh, and s6 cluster can be coded with vag-com cable, to do it, you need to connect one wire from cars k-line to cluster.
