I did my brothers coupe 2 and a bit years ago. Took all day but taking our time and tieded up while there.
I got a genuine valeo unit as they are in Redditch. It even came with the foam to stop vibration. From memory it was about 40 quid.

I'd say that they're not because of the way the pipes exit the unit but best check...

OK, so I will give Pete a call - does anyone know for sure if LHD / RHD are the same?

It just needs one of the corners re profiling with a file, then it's sits perfectly.

I got the one from Quattro corner as well, there was something a little different with it and it didn't sit in perfectly but was good enough. I'm not at home atm and can't remember what brand it was.

Since you're doing a fairly big job, I would be prepared to re-do the foam on the internal flaps in the airbox as well. They will most likely be deteriorated and crumbling to bits as they usually do with age. The big flap separating cold and hot air has large holes beneath the foam, and once the foam falls off the hot/cold air separation won't work well.

My mechanic said it was a straight forward job (but he would say that because hes already done his own) !
He had more problems with my alarm stuff !
Got mine from quattro corner but its still not right

Alex or Rusty ? Can I adjust the main flap (hot to cold) WITHOUT taking the dash out again ? This is the my last hope at trying to get some REAL heat into the car !

I replaced heater matrix recently, got it from Quattro Corner £40 I think and quality unit. I didn't think it was that bad a job to do just takecare of those plastic clips on the end of the control cables, I took plenty of pictures to refer to if needed. There's a good link here on the forum to follow if you need it, just take your time, good luck.

Well he once sold me a centre bearing for my UR. It was for a BMW, without telling me. Said that's all he could get. I got a genuine one and sent the BMW one back to be inserted where the sun don't shine.

This is the Valeo number fI have found on their web catalogue -

    812012 - Width: 157 mm, Height: 234 mm, Thickness/Strength: 42 mm, Material: Copper

I have a non A/C heater box and the matrix in it looks to be of the same dimensions as those listed above but as the A/C heater box is still in the car, I'm not sure if it's a shared part.

I'm going to email them now for a price.
