    Rear view mirror fixing

Hi Guys, while polishing the inside of my windscreen I managed to brake the rear view mirror off. DOH!

I noticed though its only stuck on with very thin glue of some sort, my question is if there is a replacement sticky pad available from the Audi stealer or similar or is it a case of a DIY job with the super glue?!?

    Thanks in advance

halfords sell glue specifically for this - it is worth cleaning both surfaces with IPA or something similar to get good adhesion - don't use a pad - it vibrates and is annoying as hell.

      Hi
Do not use superglue it can crack your winsscreen, you will have to use proper glue, ask any windscreen specialist for it.( i am bit lucky cos my neighoubour is the one)
      thx

I did the same thing a while back The Halfords kit comes with a mesh which you apply the special adhesive to.

The stuff that you can get from main dealer is the best stuff to get and its not expensive either!!!

Would recommend that stuff over anything else!

Did you have to reglue the mirror in your car Ant? Becasue that is the car I used the halfords kit with - it fell off the day after I got the car - over 4 years ago now.

I went into my local rac windowscreen replacement centre and the bloke offered to do it for free, but I refused having visions of the mirror being stuck on not in the centre of the screen. Instead he gave me the glue pack for free, and said I could do it myself Result!!

I'd reccommend asking any window screen fitter who you happen to see, and offer him a drink fot his troubles.

The pack he gave me consisted of two parts, an adheisve and a hardner. It was different to araldite however as the hardner was a spray, which you spray onto the window, and the glue went onto the mirror. Its held so far, and that was a year ago.

This can cause problems with company policy and people can get the sack for accepting money.

I find that a big box of biscuits, £3ish works well, that goes down better than a 4 pack of lager. Also it's a bit of a treat and most people like chocolate biscuits...
