    Dismantling illuminated sun visors?

Does anybody know how to dismantle the sunvisors? ie, to remove the illuminated section, with the cover - or even just to replace the bulbs?
Got some and don't want to ruin them
It seems the whole illuminated unit might just pop out, but don't want to force it!
    Thanks

With mine, you just pull the visor down and the whole thing falls apart. I use sunglasses

Hope you get it sorted, have really been meaning to get round to looking at mine but so easy to put stuff like that off.

IIRC you must take off cover and pop the middle part out. There was 2 holes at the bottom on each side where you can insert small flathead screwdriver and pop that whole thing out. I did this a while ago to paint visors, but don't remember the way i did it.

Chris: Can't help with the dismantling but I can tell you that the illuminated mirror assemebly is not a separately purchaseable part. However, I can tell you that the bulb is a N 0177252 torpedo (two contacts, one at either end of the bulb), L12V5W.

Thanks for the replies so far chaps

I am interested in the "removing the cover" technique.

Do you mean to remove the cover flap by pushing out the huinge pins, after which I should find 2 holes for the said small flat bladed screwdrivers?

Yes, flap comes off pretty much like you said.
            Holes are there

mdz, how did you get on with painting the sun visors ? All info useful.

Or anyone else has BTDT ?

                Thanks.

The plastic is too old and brittle to bother on mine. I'm going to keep an eye out for some newer sun visors off another make of car that would be able to fit without too much work.

First mat surface with scotch-brite or sandpaper, then one coat of plastic primer and few coats of paint (black in my case). I have painted two sets of visors and set of grab handles like this. Works great.
