What airbag wheel fits an ABY S2 '93

Sorry if this has been asked before, I didn't find it with my searching skills

I'm offered an original 3-spoke steering wheel from a '97 cabriolet. Can anyone confirm that it will fit my S2 from '93?

3 spoke airbag wheels started with '95 so it will not fit unless you've done conversion
edit: wheel itself will fit, but B4 starting from '95 has light/wiper stalks with larger center hole and cover around them, also some pins in stalk connectors needs to be re-arranged.

'97 was the last year with this steering wheel

If that's the one you've offered, then you will need stalks with large center hole (fits from >95 B4, C4A6 or pre-facelift B5), stalk covers from >95 B4, custom made spacer to fit stalks on thinner steering column (cut from plastic tube or even few layers of ducttape will do the job), re-arrange pins on stalk connectors (one or two of them has to be soldered due to different pin size) and resolder horn connector. I've done this on '94 car (same as '93)
If this wheel then don't bother, it's too much hassle to get it working right

It looks to be one in your car mate. It would be good to have that wheel in my car, the big airbag wheel that's in it now is fugly.

Btw does this mean a normal 3 spoke wheel will be plug and play or is the hub/boss different?

Wheel that's in my car is straight bolt on, it's stalks that requires swap and some work. For second wheel you will have to use adapter (available as oem part from VW) to fit wheel, think for custom solution for horn and turn indicator switch-off mechanism to work. Also no way to get airbag working.

Audi actually has an adapter for this PN: 8A0 419 787B .

But they are NLA now, as many other bits for our cars.
I'm doing this conversion myself at the moment and I found out the hard way.

The things you need to do this on an LHD S2 pre 95 is:

              New steering wheel (obviously)
              S2 emblem for the wheel (optional) 8A0 419 685D
Steering column adapter (as mentioned) 8A0 419 787B
New electrical connector for stalks: 4D0 971 978
              New plastic surroundings for stalk/column: 8A1 953 515 & 8A1 953 516
Washer stalk with on board computer: 8D9 953 503A
              Headlight stalk w/o cruise control 4D0 953 513 (4D0 953 513A with cruise control)
              Screws for surroundings N 043 951 3 (2 of these)

              That's about it I think.

One or two of pins in light stalk connector had to be resoldered, don't remember which exactly. It had small pin, but there was a large pin hole on new stalk connector (or large -> small). I can check it later.
And if you can't find stalk covers, you can use covers from C4 A6 temporarily. Not as good as right ones, but better than nothing:

The list of 3 spoke sport steering wheels that work are shown below. It is *NOT* absolutely necessary to change the stalks, etc. but if you want the signal lights to self-cancel you need to modify the cancellation ring on the clock spring. I discuss several options (Methods 1, 2 and 3) to do make this modification in this post:

A detailed DIY for Method 3 is shown in this pdf:
